Fitness is both for mind and body. For me it is to train oneself to be more resilient, better aware, alive, and kicking. More than a goal to achieve, it is a journey one needs to choose and commit to. One can be genetically blessed with good skin, lustrous hair, and a specific body type. Now, to appreciate that and maintain that also requires one to commit oneself on this journey. This journey is inevitable for someone like me who has muscular issues in one of my eyes, protruding teeth, a frail body, and a history of epileptic seizures. Like most of us, I have fallen short at times; however, today, exactly one month since I touched 50, I can see myself as someone who survived seizures, trekked with weak knees and lumber injury, and completed three months of NCC training at the Officers Training Academy, Gwalior and some more.
Today fitness means being committed and consistent, friendly, and warm within healthy boundaries, being ready to learn, and more than that, unlearn and relearn. Yes, all off these. My time-tested rituals are some yoga, some walks, some solo trips, some friends, some books, some music, some prayer, and some food.
Since the path taken to unlearn is never smooth, and it is human to loose track, I bet my small rituals always lift me gently and put me back to my lost path, and once again, I resume my journey.
Fitness can never be one of the many options in life. This is the only way to live.
Try building your rituals and keep inspiring yourself. Make fitness your trusted friend!
