SAYING ‘NO’ TO TOXICITY

Akshata Harish

Saying "no" to toxicity refers to the act of making a conscious decision to avoid toxic people, behaviors, situations, and environments. Toxicity can manifest in different forms, such as negative attitudes, manipulative behavior, verbal abuse, or physical violence. It can also refer to environments where harmful substances or pollutants are present.

Saying no to toxicity is a form of self-care, as it can help to protect one's mental and physical well-being. It can be difficult to do, as toxic people and situations can be hard to identify and often involve people we care about or are close to. However, it is important to recognize and remove toxicity from your life for maintaining good mental and physical health.

There are a few things you can do to start saying "no" to toxicity:

Identify the toxic people and situations in your life, and make a plan to limit your contact with them.

Learn to set boundaries and communicate them clearly.

Surround yourself with positive, supportive people.

Take care of your physical and mental health by getting enough sleep, eating well, and engaging in activities that bring you joy.

Seek help if you need it, such as therapy or support groups, to deal with the effects of toxicity.

It is important to understand that it is not an overnight process and it may take time, effort and patience to improve your well-being. And Remember, it's always okay to put yourself first.
